Sometimes you’re missing just one piece of the puzzle–you have a gap in expertise. Even industry leaders can’t be everything to everyone after all. Fortunately, SPARK thrives on relationships where we can support other teams and share our complimentary skills to create top-quality products.
SPARK has partnered with ADI Engineering (now part of Silicom Ltd.) since 2013, supplying mechanical engineering and industrial design services to deliver functional and aesthetic enclosures for ADI’s world-class networking, cloud, and IoT products built around Intel processors.

Having been in communication for years, ADI and SPARK finally connected in 2013 for a high profile enclosure design with an unusually fast timeline. Intel wanted to design and manufacture a small run of functional, production-quality IoT Gateway units from scratch… in less than two weeks.
SPARK was able to immediately dive in, providing quick industrial design styling options based on ADI’s board layout and the constraints of sheet metal fabrication. Once a concept was selected, SPARK also handled the complete mechanical design of the unit, developing manufacture-ready parts with mounting points for all hardware and incorporating proper venting and EMI shielding. SPARK then tapped a trusted vendor and had the parts fabricated and delivered to ADI in a matter of days.
With dozens of projects completed to date, SPARK and ADI continue to collaborate on a routine basis.
After the success of what would become the White Oak Canyon IoT Gateway, ADI returned to SPARK with another notable project: the VeloCloud Edge enclosures. ADI had a sleek design concept, but it was only representative images at the time. SPARK was again tasked with bringing the concept to reality while incorporating ADI’s electronic components.
SPARK worked to create a simple parts break-up that would be easy to manufacture and assemble, with several variations for different end customers. The final product closely maintains the original minimalist aesthetic intent, with its cast aluminum base and white injection molded plastic cover. SPARK also helped with routing internal antennas and developed a creative solution for the prominent light-piped cloud logo.
Over the years SPARK has remained ADI’s trusted mechanical design partner thanks to our manufacturing experience, prompt execution, and reliable deliverables.
